Dustborn: My Terrible Reincarnation

James Halverson never expected that death would be the start of his most bizarre adventure. After a bureaucratic mix-up in the afterlife, he’s reincarnated—not as a hero, a monster, or even a powerful entity, but as a sentient speck of dust. Armed with an unconventional growth system and a dry sense of humor, James must navigate his new existence, slowly leveling up and evolving through meditation and absorbing the particles around him. But the absurdity of his situation masks a much deeper challenge. As James grows, so too does the strange world around him, filled with ancient mysteries, powerful magic, and looming threats that test both his newfound abilities and his sense of identity. What begins as a simple quest for survival turns into a larger struggle for purpose as James starts to unlock powerful abilities, and even stranger, attracts the attention of others—both friend and foe. In a world where nothing is as it seems, James must come to terms with his role—whether as a protector or something far more dangerous. And as his influence grows, so too do the shadows lurking in the periphery, threatening to consume everything he’s built. What to Expect: Weak to Strong MC. Golems crafting, dungeon managing, and form evolutions. Blue text. A story that feels like a D&D adventure. What Not to Expect: Harems, smut, or really any romance. Consistent updates. :'( Horror and mature content. Lots of dialogue at the beginning. Author's Note: I started this as a hobby so updates may fluctuate between very fast or very slow depending on my life schedule. I'm currently working on a rewrite of the first 13 chapters before continuing so the story is on a temporary hiatus that is expected to end before the start of 2025. I am a native English speaker but I do make mistakes, so if you happen to notice any spelling or grammar mistakes, be sure to let me know so I can correct them. I want to make sure that the reading experience is as smooth as possible.
