I Was a Private Investigator, but Now I'm a Tentacle Monster Saving Space Dames!

Per feedback, I moved chapters around to give the story a spine sooner. I moved up all of H.P. Marlowe's chapters; his story starts at Chapter 3 now. "Space is cold. She’s cold like the glare of a woman who once loved you but has now decided she’s better off if you’re dead." It was 1949. Seattle. Private Investigator Jack Wolfgang landed a case in the dead of night. The trail led him to a black rite. Vile. Wicked. The sorcerer’s ancient blasphemies spoken under the treacherous glow of a blazing fire tore the steely sleuth from Earth and hurled him deep into the black infinite of space.  He awakens. Tentacles. Eyes. A purple hide and needle teeth made for tearing raw flesh. Once a man. Now, a monster. Just as he’d always thought. Jack’s will endures, one desire burning in his mind: reclaim. Reclaim his body. Reclaim his humanity. Reclaim his right to be a man.  He crosses the stars and gathers around him a team of space dames—tough, sharp, and fatal. Guns blazing, spells sparking, and blades swinging, they carve through the abominable throngs infesting stardust seas. Space bleeds neon green with war. Jack bleeds with questions. What is a man? He doesn’t know. Not yet. The trench coat’s gone. The hat’s gone. The fight’s still there. Across the void, he hunts for answers. In this grand, terrible circus of the cosmos, Jack’s tale spins on—a detective, a monster, a dreamer under alien skies.  Will he be a man? Readers can expect: 🚬 A relentless noir style 🥧 Heaping slices of life 🧿 Murderous eldritch cults 🎇 Deadly psychic battles  🌹 Space dames that'll knock you dead 📚 Multiple strange worlds with deep lore and even stranger people 🌌 Cosmic battles of Biblical proportions 🔥 The slow burn of the millennia 💪 No harem, but sincere and transformative friendships 👾 Above all: some dadgum alien WHIMSY! It's a wild ride. Not for the faint of heart. I hope you're ready for a story like Royal Road has never seen before. **Violence. Intense wrestling with loneliness and purposelessness.** Tune in Wednesdays at 4:00 PM EST.
