Libitina - 2024 SCS Fanfiction Contest Winner

Winner of the 2024 Stray Cat Strut Fanfiction Contest. Libitina knows she is nothing more than a dusty old professor teaching a long dead topic to a class of bored, spoiled rich kids. Her home life is a mess, with nothing but her duties as a wife and mother pushing her back home through the smog filled skies of Nova Halifax. Life is as dismal as Libi expected it to be; until her classroom explodes, and Libi is elevated to a Samurai, one of humanity's mighty defenders against an ongoing alien invasion. But not everything is quite so easily solved with guns and explosions, and Libi finds her new power is as much a burden as it is a blessing...  I initially wrote this as a submission for Ravensdagger's Stray Cat Strut fanfiction contest, asking myself "What if there were problems a Samurai couldn't solve with guns and cool explosions? What would that look like? The result is Libitina. If you haven't checked out Ravensdagger's work yet, definitely do; he is a brilliant author and a wonderful inspiration. I would like to continue this as a short series, but I've learned the dangers of making grand promises before, so for now I'll say, thank you for voting for this passion project and I hope to see you again soon!
